When you come to a hill or a bank, occupy the sunny side, with the slope on your right rear. Thus you will at once act for the benefit of your soldiers and utilize the natural advantages of the ground.

Il faut conclure encore que les campements près des rivières ont leurs avantages qu'il ne faut pas négliger, et leurs inconvénients qu'il faut tâcher d'éviter avec un grand soin. Je ne saurais trop vous le répéter, tenez le haut de la rivière, laissez-en le courant aux ennemis. Outre que les gués sont beaucoup plus fréquents vers la source, les eaux en sont plus pures et plus salubres.
