The fruitfulness of the early time of the Châu dynasty in able officers.
To Châu belonged the eight officers, Po-tâ, Po-kwô, Chung-tû, Chung-hwû, Shû-yâ, Shû-hsiâ, Chî-sui, and Chî-kwa.

Legge XVIII.11.

There were eight Gentlemen in Chou: Po Ta, Po K'uo, Chung T'u, Chung Hu, Shu Yeh, Shu Hsia, Chi Sui and Chi K'uo.

La dynastie des Tcheou eut huit gentilshommes : Pe ta, Pe kouo, Tchoung tou, Tchoung hou, Chou ie, Chou hia, Ki souei, Ki koua. Dans les temps prospères, au commencement de la dynastie des Tcheou, parurent huit hommes de talent et de Vertu, qu'on appela les huit gentilshommes. Ils étaient nés d'une même mère, deux à la fois d'une même couche.(Tchou Hsi)
