XXVI. A parallel between the Sage possessed of entire sincerity, and Heaven and Earth, showing that the same qualities belong to them.

The way of Heaven and Earth is large and substantial, high and brilliant, far-reaching and long-enduring.

Legge XXVI.8.

以天而论,在一处,只一线明亮罢了,积累至于无穷,日月星辰被它维系,万物被它覆盖。以地而论,在一处,只一撮土罢了,积累至于广大深厚,负载着华山、岳山而不觉得重,收容着江河海洋而不汇漏,万物都负载在它上面。以山而论,在一处,只一块土石罢了,积累至于广大,草木生长于山,禽兽栖息于山,宝物矿藏开发于山。以水而论,在一处,只一勺儿罢了,积累到无底无涯,鼋鳖、鼍鳄、蛟龙在那里产生长大,不少的财富货物也取自那里。
