How the princes should be served:– against the spirit of the times.
The Master said, "The full observance of the rules of propriety in serving one's prince is accounted by people to be flattery."
Legge III.18.
The Master said, 'You will be looked upon as obsequious by others if you observe every detail of the rites in serving your lord.'

Le Maître dit : « Envers mon prince j'observe exactement tous les rites. Les hommes m'accusent de flatterie, parce qu'eux-mêmes servent le prince négligemment. »
