Confucius' text, Zengzi's comments on illustrious virtue, renovation of the people, the highest excellence, the root and the branches, investigation of things, having the thoughts sincere, the rectification of the mind, the regulation of the family, the well-ordering of the State, making the whole kingdom peaceful and happy.
Zengzi's Sixth Commentary
On having the thoughts sincere.
Riches adorn a house, and virtue adorns the person. The mind is expanded, and the body is at ease. Therefore, the superior man must make his thoughts sincere.
Legge VI. 4.
拥有财富能装饰房屋,有道德能润泽身心,心境宽广,则身躯健壮,所以君子一定要使意念诚实无妄。

Les richesses ornent et embellissent une maison, la vertu orne et embellit la personne ; dans cet état de félicité pure, l'âme s'agrandit, et la substance matérielle qui lui est soumise profite de même. C'est pourquoi le sage doit rendre ses intentions pures et sincères.

La puissance illumine la personne comme la prospérité illumine le foyer ; alors l'esprit se développe et le corps s'épanoui. Ici encore le prince doit consulter sa conscience.
