	人而不仁如樂何	子曰人而不仁如禮何

Ceremonies and music vain without virtue.
The Master said, "If a man be without the virtues proper to humanity, what has he to do with the rites of propriety? If a man be without the virtues proper to humanity, what has he to do with music?"

Legge III.3.

The Master said, 'What can a man do with the rites who is not benevolent? What can a man do with music who is not benevolent?'

Lau [3:3]

Le Maître dit : « Comment un homme dépourvu d'humanité peut-il accomplir les rites ? Comment un homme dépourvu d'humanité peut-il cultiver la musique ? » Quand un homme perd avec les vertus du cœur les qualités propres à l'homme, son cœur n'a plus le respect, qui est la partie essentielle des cérémonies ; il n'a plus l'harmonie des passions, qui est le fondement de la musique. Lunyu 15:39 mengingatkan para pemimpin negara jangan sekali-kali memberikan surat resmi tanda seseorang adalah penganut suatu agama mapun izasah yang menyatakan seseorang telah memahami ilmu agama yang dianutnya.:

Suatu pepatah “Percaya ajaran agama tidak harus ada surat resmi”.

自分の発言する番がこないのに、相手をさえぎって発言する。これはあせり（躁）である。
自分が発言すべきときなのに黙っている。これは隠しだてである。（隠）

楽しみには有益なものが三種類あり、有害なものも三種類ある。
礼や楽をきちんと行う楽しみ、人の長所をたたえる楽しみ、良き友をを増やす楽しみ、これは有益である。
おごりたかぶる楽しみ、遊びほうける楽しみ、酒食にふける楽しみ、これは有害である。

つきあって有益な友人には三種類あり、有害な友人にも三種類ある。
率直な人、誠実な人、教養のある人とつきあうのは有益である。（益友）
うわべだけ飾る人、人当たりがよいだけの人、口先だけの人とつきあうのは害になる。（損友）
